This 3-ingredient Amaretto Sour recipe is a simple drink to make at home. The fresh lemon pairs perfectly with the almond notes of the Amaretto! It's a must-try classic cocktail idea!
To a cocktail shaker, add Amaretto, simple syrup and fresh lemon juice.
Add ice then shake well.
Strain over fresh ice in a short cocktail glass.
Garnish with a slice of orange and a cherry.

Top Tips
I think fresh lemon juice is best. You could use bottled in a pinch but it won't have the same zing that the fresh lemon brings.
Don't be afraid to spill a little bit of the maraschino juice in the glass... It adds a pretty color and a little more cherry-ish sweetness.
Don't have a cocktail shaker? Just add everything to a mason jar with a lid. Works just as well!
Variations
Bourbon - Some people add an ounce of bourbon to this recipe to make it into a stronger cocktail. The flavors work really well together and will cut some of the sweetness from the original recipe.
More Liquor - Really, you can add an ounce of any other liquor to the drink - vodka, tequila, gin will all give it a slightly different flavor. And definitely more alcohol!
Egg White - If you are't afraid of eggs in your cocktails, many people add a frothy egg white foam to their sour cocktails. It adds a velvety touch to the drink and is really pretty easy to do even if you aren't interested in learning bartending skills.
Orange Juice - Adding a little bit of orange juice adds more citrus and is a great pairing for the Amaretto. It reminds me of my Vodka Sunrise a little bit.
Frozen - Add some ice and throw it all in a blender. Then it becomes a super refreshing drink to sip when the weather warms up.
Add Bubbles - Top it with a little sparkling wine to make it feel extra celebratory.
