Cherry Lemonade with Pineapple Rum aka Pretty Little Lemonade
I like pretty drinks and I cannot lie. And I LOVE TV. “Have I mentioned that before?” she said sarcastically. I look forward to the new fall TV lineup for months. I DVR about a bazillion shows a week. And my happy place, each night, is watching TV in bed. But a girl can only invest herself in so many series’. This drink is inspired by a show that I know I would have loved when it premiered and am so looking forward to binge watching. I call this recipe ‘Pretty Little Lemonade.’
This post was written in partnership with Netflix. As a member of their #StreamTeam, I am pretty much required to watch TV and for that I will always be grateful. From what I understand, there is a lot of sweet and sour in the Pretty Little Liars series. There is friendship, death, relationship trouble, and lots of cute clothes. Not to mention the stars are gorgeous. So I knew the drink had to be sweet, sour and pretty too. Lemonade was the perfect base to start with. I prefer Meyer lemons because they are a touch sweeter than a traditional lemon. And my kids are OBSESSED with Maraschino cherries (oh the chemicals!) so they are always around the house. I am partial to the juice (it’s SO good over ice cream!), it’s a pretty red so I thought it would be the perfect touch for the lemonade. And of course, I had to make this adult friendly by adding some pineapple rum. It takes this to a tropical place and I love it. This drink is super easy, kind of like using Netflix – whoa, blatant plug!). You just make your basic lemonade (I like to squeeze my extra lemon juice in to ice-cube trays and freeze it so I always have fresh juice around and can thaw as much or as little as I need). And add the cherry juice. Boom. Simple. Delicious. Of course you can leave out the pineapple rum, but why? You’ll need it for when the show gets super suspenseful. Of course, don’t put it in the kid’s version. Duh.Top with a cherry, of course. My kids loved the cherry lemonade and I loved the Pretty Little Liar cocktail! The color is so bright and cheery and the taste is familiar but with a twist. I’m just about ready to embark on my Pretty Little Liars marathon watching. Were you a fan? Did you watch the series? There are two other shows that I can wait to watch too! I’ve heard really good things about United States of Tara. I love Toni Collette and think the premise of this show sounds really interesting. Character Tara Gregson is an artist, wife and mother who has alter egos…And Marley Africa Road Trip looks awesome! Ziggy Marley was the first concert that I went to, I am super interested in this travel series with Ziggy and two of his brothers. They ride motorcycles through Africa to further their father’s, Bob Marley’s, message of love, peace and unity through music. This one is 6 episodes and I think it will be a really interesting look at Africa and their struggles, a big dose of reggae music and a look at the life of these three father’s who are tasked (by their own accord) at continuing his father’s legacy.
I think I’m going to give myself Thursdays off of work. But I should probably put a limit on just how many shows I can watch that day or else I’d forget to pick up my kids. What are you watching on Netflix? You can check out what else I’m loving on Netflix here.
If this recipe sounds good to you, you also should check out my Rosé Lemonade recipe. It’s super easy and totally refreshing.

I LOVE Bloodline! SO good!!
I’ve never watched the show, but I’ll pretty much do anything if it permits the having of cocktails.
Everything should have its own themed cocktail, right? ;)
