Lavender French 75 Recipe
This simple and refreshing Lavender French 75 recipe is the perfect floral cocktail to enjoy any time. An easy twist on the classic gin drink, lavender extract adds a little something extra to this champagne cocktail that takes just a couple of minutes to make!
This Lavender Champagne Cocktail recipe is one of my new gin cocktails at the moment, and not just because they look so pretty topped with an edible flower floating on top! They’d be just perfect for a bridal shower.
You won’t believe how easy this delicate, floral twist on a French 75 cocktail is to make.
Why this recipe works
Everyone knows that a French 75 is made with gin, but how about a French 75 recipe made with gin and lavender?
If you’re not sure about adding flowers to cocktails (okay I get it, if they’re made too strong they can be pretty bad) this is such an easy drink to start out with. I promise you won’t regret giving it a go!

Gin, lemon and champagne are the perfect partners for a wine cocktail with just a hint of sweetness from the simple syrup.
A dash of lavender extract elevates the drink adding fragrance and a delicate flavor that is perfect for any celebration, brunch or girls’ night.
Ingredients
These are the ingredients you need to make a classic French 75 with lavender:
I’m using Tanqueray gin at the moment as it has a nice clean, classic flavor that works in all kind of cocktails. But if you have a favorite bottle, use that instead. Some gins contain lavender as a botanical – I think that would work really well.
If you can’t find lavender extract, lavender bitters would also help add a floral, herbal edge to this drink, or you could make a lavender simple syrup or lavender tea (which doesn’t use any sugar) instead.
I’ve used store-bought simple syrup here, but if you don’t have any to hand I’ve also got a recipe for making regular simple syrup yourself.
I’ve used a pink California-made champagne-style sparkling wine here because I love the pretty shade it adds to cocktails, but any champagne or other sparkling wine like Cava or Prosecco will work in this recipe.

Directions
Step 1
Measure the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice.
Step 2
Next, carefully measure out the lavender extract. You can add up to 3/4 tsp per drink, but I recommend being cautious and only going for a tiny amount the first time you make these.
Different brands of lavender extract vary in strength and if you add too much your drink will end up tasting of soap. Yuck!
Step 3
Shake, and strain into a champagne flute.
Step 4
Finally, top up with champagne and garnish with a lemon twist, a lavender sprig or an edible flower.
Now enjoy your Lavender French 75!
Variations
- Rose French 75 – swap out the lavender extract for rosewater extract for a Rose French 75. As with the lavender extract, be sparing with it because too much will make your drink taste like soap!
- Elderflower French 75 – switch the lavender extract for St Germain for another floral take on this classic drink.
- Use vodka – If you’re not a big fan of gin, feel free to swap it out for vodka for a smoother drink.
Frequently Asked Questions
No! I love them for a simple, elegant serve but champagne coupes or wine glasses would work well here – or even stemless wine glasses.
This Lavender French 75 recipe is super quick to mix together even when you have guests, but you can get ahead by squeezing the lemon juice in advance and keeping it in the fridge for up to 3 days.
