I like wine. But it was a slow start for me and wine. I’d always been more of a beer and cocktail girl. Then I started working at a Wolfgang Puck Cafe and had to do some very basic wine training. I picked out a Pinot Grigio that my mouth liked. But I still didn’t really order it when I went out. At least it gave me a point of reference for what to order when I finally decided I wanted to several years later. There are so many types of wine that choosing one, when you feel like you don’t much about it, can be intimidating. Plus there is such a stigma attached to certain types of wine like white zinfandel or boxed wine. At 40, I’m able to see how ridiculous it is to be worried about someone judging you based on the wine you like. (Plus half the people judging you probably don’t even know anything about wine and are just a**holes).

But nevertheless, joining a wine club kind of feels like an extra sophisticated thing to do. It feels high brow and like an added expense that you might not want to commit to every month. But Winc totally breaks down all those barriers which is why I love it so much! Instead of just heading to the store and choosing a random bottle off the shelf, I decided to check out a wine club called, Winc (formerly Club W)
. After spending only a few seconds on their site I knew it was the perfect place for me. First off, the labels are super cute. In the past I found what was behind the cute labels was not so great wine. What I love about Winc is they share tasting notes and flavor profiles in a way that you can understand them. It makes choosing wines easy and the likelihood that you will enjoy them is high.
Winc was super easy to sign up for and if you decide you want to skip a month, you totally can. !They send a tasting card with each bottle, which also includes a recipe that would pair well with it. Their customer service is FANTASTIC! They are super knowledgable and can suggest options if something you are looking for is sold out. And my wines arrive super fast. I’m a BIG fan! To get started, I decided to stick with what I know I like, a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. This one called, Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy, was cute and delicious. I’m sure there are wine snobs totally rolling their eyes at me right now but it just makes sense that wines should be cuter. Duh.
This was not sweet, but really fruity. It had a lot of minerality like most Savvy’s do (Winc’s tasting card mentioned that local Kiwi’s call Sauvignon Blanc “Savvy” and I’m totally stealing that!) While I generally drink my wine in the evening, this would be perfect for day drinking. It was nice and crisp and delicious. And SO cute!
I have yet to reorder something from Winc since I love exploring different bottles so much. This is really a stress free wine club to belong to and the perfect way to do your own wine tastings at home! Get $20 off your first order when you use my affiliate link!
