Cupcakes in a Jar Delivery Gift Idea
A Cupcakes in a jar delivery is a great gift idea! Want to send cupcakes in the mail but don’t know how? These companies can help you out! Protected by the glass and custom packaging, cupcakes in a jar can handle being shipped across the country. It makes a fun surprise gift idea for friends and family you can’t celebrate with in person.
Cupcakes in a jar are awesome
A delivery of cupcakes in a jar would be the best surprise to find on your doorstep, don’t you think?
I’m a big fan of cupcakes. Giving and eating them way more than making them. And while I make Boozy Cupcakes from time to time, when it comes to celebrating friends and family that aren’t close by, mailing some cupcakes in jars is the way to go!
Sometimes your friends and family don’t live close by. And trying to figure out how to ship cupcakes is super challenging. Lucky for us, there are bakers out there who have figured this out for us.

Shipping cupcakes in jars makes so much sense! It protects them and also is a cute presentation.
This greeting card idea is a fun one. But sometimes I want the gesture to be a little sweeter. And that’s where Cupcakes in a Jar comes in.
I decided to send some cupcakes in a jar to myself so I could vouch for the flavor and experience. This is who I am. These are the things I do for you. You’re welcome.
The best way to have cupcakes shipped
Cupcakes in a jar are basically a safer, non-smooshable way to ship cupcakes to anyone, anywhere.
Instead of being baked in a liner, they are baked, then layered into a jar, between thick frosting, to create a delicious dessert anyone would want to devour.
I’m grateful to whoever invented this method since it’s such a great way to send a cupcake delivery.
I’ve tried a few different companies, but I really loved the most recent one I tried from Sweet Sisters.
The cupcakes were delicious, the shipping cost wasn’t outrageous and they arrived safely in a box (above) just begging me to eat them all. I mean, share with my family.
They’re based in Doylestown, PA and they currently have holiday-themed packaging available also.
What is cool about ordering cupcakes in a jar, especially when shipping to someone, is that they are extra celebratory.
You can choose a lid based on the occasion. Making them a perfect gift idea for every event. Or for no event. Because no one is going to turn down cupcakes just because they don’t have a solid reason.
Depending on where you’re shipping to, you’ll want to make sure you give the vendor plenty of time to prepare the order and allow time for shipping.
Give even more time before major holidays, especially since the mail system seems to be slow already.
While you can pick up a dozen of traditional cupcakes and delivery to anyone local, sending cupcakes in jars is such an awesome idea for shipping to someone not near you.
Because of the way they layer the cake and frosting, they look SO fun. I love the ratio of cake to frosting on a cupcake and in a jar, you basically get two levels of it. YUM.
And I love that you eat them with a fork instead of your hands. I have OCD tendencies and HATE to have my hands sticky.
If it’s all I had to eat with I would. But shoveling a cupcake in my mouth with a fork makes me extra happy.
Just like with traditional cupcakes, you can order all kinds of different flavors. And usually, you can order more than one flavor.
That means you can ship a variety of goodness to your recipient without having to guess what their favorite might be.
I found the flavors to be on the sweet side, but a little sprinkling of some Maldon sea salt helped to cut it.
Shipping Cupcakes in a Jar is a great idea. Check out Sweet Sisters and send a batch to someone you love.
You can order cupcakes in 2 sized jars. A pack of 4 (8 oz) cupcakes is $27.95 making them each less than $7. Shipping costs will depend on where you are shipping to.
Cupcake in a Jar Review
This post was originally written because I got a free shipment of Wicked Good Cupcakes to review. And while it was a very long time ago, I do remember them being delicious.
I attempted to order them again so that I could update the post with new information on their products, but they were more expensive plus shipping was very costly and hard to schedule.
I made a few attempts to make it make sense and finally decided I should look for another option. They were the original, so I want to keep my old review here in case you live on the east coast.
But Sweet Sisters is a great option if cost is a factor for you. (To reiterate, I bought the Sweet Sister cupcakes).
Wicked Good Cupcakes Review
*I was sent the cupcakes in a jar to review. All opinions are mine.
In 2012, I got a super fun shipment in the mail. It was 4 cupcakes in jars from Wicked Good Cupcakes! They’re based in MA but will ship anywhere in the US.
The cupcake jars were wrapped up snug in bubble wrap and nestled tightly into a box, just waiting to be eaten. It also had 4 faux-silver plastic spoons so I could jump right in. Their shipping methods may have been updated since then.
They sell 2 different sizes of cupcakes in a jar and have a variety of flavors to choose from. They also sell party packs and some other gifty ideas.
You may be able to customize the labels for special events and they offer bulk discounts for corporate gifts, etc.
I tried their Spring Fling cupcake that had white cake with a vanilla cream cheese buttercream! I found it just perfect for breakfast, er, I mean an afternoon snack.
I also got a birthday cake flavor which was a white cupcake with a Madagascar Bourbon cream cheese buttercream. Yeah. Also delicious. As you’d imagine.
A four pack of cupcakes is $42.95 which breaks down to about 10.73 per jar. The jar holds the equivalent of about 2 cupcakes. Wicket Good Cupcakes offers free ground shipping.
Ground shipping was not available to my location which increased shipping. To a lot. (Which I also noted above).
Send cupcakes now
What I like about these cupcakes in a jar, more than anything, is that they allow you to send a little celebration to your friends and family around the country.
My nieces live in Nevada and I don’t often get to spend their birthdays with them. How excited would they be to open up a package of cupcakes?! And my husband’s cousin and cousin’s wife just bought a new house in Connecticut. What a great housewarming present!
You don’t even need a reason to ship cupcakes to someone. Everyone could use an extra reason to smile and a surprise shipment of cupcakes would do just that.

This post was originally published April 25, 2012. I have since updated the photos and tried a few companies to see which cupcakes I like best for sending.
Yes, I hear what you are saying about delivery but in my mind, I got lousy customer service with the company I ordered from. I feel they should have made it right, rather than tell me sorry you are out $26 but we aren’t going to do anything about it. Anyway, Just here to report that after 18 days of Email communication, and leaving reviews everywhere I could find to do so, Wicked Good Cupcakes made the problem right this afternoon. UPS took full responsibility this morning via telephone and promised to have the items re-sent with signature required, and Wicked Good Cupcakes decided to refund the original amount. Thank you for standing by your product and carrier. I’ve decided to remove my original review from their site, and update other reviews I have left elsewhere.
I’m glad that you feel like the wrongs were righted!!
I am severely disappointed in Wicked Good Cupcakes. After seeing them on Shark Tank, and having come from my home state, I was eager to try them out. I decided to send a couple cupcakes to my dad as a gift. I paid as much in shipping via UPS as I did for the cupcakes, which was fine and I was happy to pay it.
The problem arises when UPS claims they delivered the package to a 6 story apartment building and leaves the package in the main unlocked lobby. You can imagine how many apartments are in this building! Any delivery service with any common sense would have rung the apartment number doorbell to alert a package was delivered. Worst case scenario *should have been* to leave a notice in the mailbox and bring the package back to UPS. My dad could have picked his gift up that very same evening or at worst, the next day. He was not given that opportunity. And now we are told by Wicked Good Cupcakes they do not stand by their choice of delivery service, and UPS says it was left and that there is nothing they are willing to do about the fact I paid $26 and received nothing. When you check the tracking number link, it says it was left at the front door. This is totally irresponsible delivering. I only thank my lucky stars I placed a small order and not a large one.
Buyer Beware: A product is only as good as the delivery you do or don’t get.
I’m so sorry you had this experience. It seems to me that your issue is mainly with the shipping company. Unfortunately, bad shipping happens but what is a small business to do when the vendor has paperwork showing they completed their job? It puts them between a rock and a hard place. I can only go from my personal experience in getting to try the cupcakes that I would order from them again. It is completely understandable that you might not. Thank you for sharing your experience.
YUM. Seriously, Yum.
