DIY Essential Oil Room Spray Recipe (for Good Vibes)
With just a few ingredients you can make your own essential oil room spray that will make your home smell great and bring all the good vibes with it.
I love to diffuse oils but I also wanted to make a good vibes spray to make it super easy to spritz around when needed. Because boys stink. And this DIY takes just minutes to make!
This DIY Room Spray brings good vibes
An essential oil room spray recipe is quick and easy to make and some times totally needed (especially if you live with multiple boys in the house like I do).
A homemade room spray is a simple solution that can help make the house smell beteer. I’m also a wannabe hippie so I love the idea of good vibes and positivity and blah, blah, blah.
I love essential oils and have tons of them (I think they are a great way to include a little “me time” during your day). Regardless of whether you believe in oils or not, they simply smell amazing.

And to me, good smells help me shift my mind frame. I made this anti bad vibe room spray to help change my negative Nancy mood. Mom life can stress a gal out, yo.
I’m guessing you can use some good vibes too.
While I really loved the combination of oils used in this room spray with essential oils, you can mix and match per your own preferences. This smells amazing and if it happens to help lift up my spirits, all the better.
Room Spray Supplies
Here’s what you need to make an essential oils spray with witch hazel
โขglass spray bottle (I used a 4-ounce bottle)
โขrose water
โขwitch hazel
โขlavender essential oil
โขbergamot essential oil
โขylang ylang essential oil
โขlemon essential oil
โขjuniper berry essential oil
I used witch hazel in this recipe to help blend the essential oils with the water since oil and water don’t mix. But you can also use vodka if you don’t have witch hazel.
I also use rose water in this recipe. It has a slight aroma that helps to promote calmness and tranquility but you can still make this even if you don’t use the rose water as it can be hard to find.
How to make a Room Spray with essential oils
1. Add the oils to witch hazel
To your glass bottle, add 1 ounce of witch hazel. Add the essential oils and put on the lid. Shake well.
The witch hazel will help the oils distribute in the water better.
2. Add the rose water
Add 3 ounces of rose water. Put the lid back on and shake well again.
3. Add the essential oils
Everybody knows that lavender is the best and totally relaxing so I go heavy with that oil. I would do about 10 drops of lavender.
Ylang ylang, lemon, and bergamot are also mood uplifting and calming. I would do 5 each of these oils.
And while I picked Juniper Berry because of how the smell works with the other essential oils, it also helps relieve tension and stress. This also brings a grounding scent (almost pine like). I would use between 5 and 10 drops of this oil depending on how much you like earthy scents.
The average amount of essential oils used in a room spray is between 20-40 drops depending on the strength of the scents and how bold you like your room to smell.
Storage
Oils are best stored in a cool dark spot. So while the blue bottle will help to protect the oils, it’s best to keep the bottle out of direct sunlight.
If you feel like you or your home are in a funk you should definitely make this DIY Room Spray for good vibes! This refreshing blend of essential oils will help change your mood! Just spritz and smile.
Sometimes you can’t get a change of scenery to help alleviate your stress. But you can make your space feel different (more spa-like even). Essential oils are a great way to do that.
Tips
You will need to shake the DIY room spray with essential oils well each time you use it to mix really well.
Feel free to change up the DIY essential oil spray recipe with oils based on the smells you like. Good vibes are just around the corner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Using witch hazel in essential oil room sprays helps to blend the water and essential oils for even spraying and also to prolong the scent.
Room sprays can dissolve in air quickly taking the scent with it. It may last longer if sprayed on fabrics (like a pillow mist) or other fabrics (as long as you patch test to ensure it won’t stain).

Hi Valerie, I found them on amazon. (affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3d1wENb ) . They’re so great for room sprays and even cleaners if you’re making your own!
I’m a newbie to essential oils. How much of each should you add please?
Hi! So sorry about that! I’m in the process of updating my old posts and making sure they are more user friendly and actually giving you the recipe would certainly help right! (facepalm). I like to really smell my essential oils so I use a pretty heavy hand. Feel free to cut back if you feel like it’s too much. Just aim to keep the ratio fairly similar. I used about 10 drops of lavender, 10 of lemon, 5 ylang ylang, 5 of bergamot and 10 of juniper. Let me know how it turns out!
I made another room spray a few months ago with rose essential oil but I canโt remember how I made it. Tried this recipe out and it smells wonderful. Iโve pinned this recipe so when I run out I can make it again.
Thank you Sharon for the DIY Good Vibes Spray! Iโm going to make it and pass out as Christmas gifts.
Such a great idea!! I also have a holiday scent and printable labels on the site. But the Good Vibes spray is great for any time of year!
The dark arts? So because something is not European and Christian it is somehow bad? Yea, Imma skip you altogether.
Hi and thank you for commenting. I think that maybe I phrased that wrong. It has nothing to do with being Peruvian but more the spirits, etc. I absolutely don’t think that if it’s not European and Christian it’s wrong. But as a Christian, certain things aren’t right for me. Anyone else can do what they want and should. I’m sorry that didn’t come across. I appreciate you speaking up. I also appreciate that I am not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. Waking up to a comment like this is always a good reminder to be careful with my words.
